Frequently Asked
Questions

Common questions about our Senior classes

What is the age requirement?
Our Senior classes are open to anyone aged 14 years and older.
I'm not fit. Can I still join?
Absolutely. You don't need to be fit to start—Kyokushin will get you fit! Our classes are adaptable, so you can train at your own pace while we help you build strength and conditioning.
Is Kyokushin safe? Will I get hurt?
Kyokushin is a contact art, but safety is our priority. Beginners do not spar immediately; we build your skills and conditioning first. All sparring is strictly supervised, age-appropriate, and requires protective gear. Control is the first thing we teach.
I have an old injury (e.g., bad back/knee). Can I train?
Often, yes. Please speak to the instructor before class. We can usually modify exercises to accommodate your needs while helping you build strength safely. We encourage you to listen to your body.
Do you have beginners classes?
All our Senior sessions (Mon, Wed, Fri) are All Levels. This means beginners train alongside advanced students, which fosters a supportive environment where you learn from everyone.
How much does membership cost?
After your free 1-week trial, our standard membership is £60 per month. Family discounts are available (50% off for additional family members).
Do you offer financial support?
Yes. As a non-profit club, we offer a Supported Membership rate for individuals or families on low or modest incomes (e.g., Universal Credit, Housing Benefit). Please contact us in confidence to apply.
What should I wear to my first class?
Comfortable gym clothes (t-shirt and joggers/shorts). We train barefoot. You do not need a Gi (uniform) for your trial week.
