Tournament Information

Are you ready to test your skills and rise to the challenge?

Join us at the 1st Open Kyokushin Karate Novice Tournament, a semi-contact competition designed to help young karatekas gain experience and prepare for future tournaments.

Brief of Kumite (Sparring) Rules

The 1st Open Kyokushin Karate Novice Tournament at HAITO Karate, titled “Rising to the Challenge”, emphasizes discipline, fairness and opportunity for new fighters. All participants must wear a clean white GI (kimono) and any logo is allowed, ensuring that sleeves and trousers are fully extended and not rolled up. Standard white elasticated shin and instep pads are mandatory, contestants must use approved fist-mitts, as specified by the organizers and males have to wear groin guards. ALL THESE ITEMS HAVE TO BE PRESENTED UPON THE CHECK-IN/WEIGHT-IN for inspection during the check-in/weigh-in. The scoring system is adjusted for novice competitors, with a lower threshold for strikes to the legs and body compared to adult competitions. Light contact with the head guard is allowed only with specific kicks, potentially earning a Wazari (point).
